JUSTIN BARCIA INJURY UPDATE: 2026 ANAHEIM 1 SUPERCROSS

Things were crazy at the 2026 Anaheim 1 Supercross. The battles were intense, and unfortunately, the injuries were intense for Justin Barcia and Malcolm Stewart, whose crash caused the red flag restart in the 450SX Main Event. From afar, Justin’s injuries looked to be more severe than Malcolm’s, and we’ve spoken to a representative from Troy Lee Ducati team and they said that Justin was asking questions and speaking to the medics when he left the track, and he is able to feel and move all of his limbs. Updated as of 9:30pm Saturday night, Justin still has more scans and tests to go, to further determine the status of his health. We will update this page when more news becomes available.

JUSTIN BARCIA POSTED A STATEMENT ON SUNDAY AFTER THE CRASH

“What’s up, guys. Hope everyone is well. Just wanted to get back to everyone. Scary night yesterday. Tough practice sessions, but the qualifier went better. The main event wasn’t good. Unfortunately, someone rolled a triple, and I was already committed. That’s about all I remember from there. Tough one.

I’m happy to say I was able to walk out of the hospital under my own power. I got extremely lucky. God was looking after me yesterday. It was a really scary one, and it really shows you that one minute everything can be going good, and the next minute it can be gone like that.

I’m extremely beat up. Throughout my career, I’ve had some heavy hits, but this one is the heaviest of them. I’ve never been so sore in my life. I can’t really move my neck, and my back hurts really badly. That was a big worry for us, but I got away with it. I broke a little wing on my back, so no surgery. My spine is stable, and everything is really good. I just need to recover from here on out.

My body is feeling okay overall, obviously, really sore. I think the next few days will show a lot more, but all in all I think we’re good. I really appreciate everyone reaching out and sticking behind me. I haven’t seen the crash yet and don’t think I really want to. I heard it was pretty bad.

Thank you everyone very much, I appreciate it. The first race on Ducati was going well, and unfortunately, things happened. I’m looking forward to getting back out there with my team. Thank you, and I’ll see everyone soon.”

JUSTIN’S NEW TEAM

In 2026, Justin is riding for the newly established Troy Lee Designs Red Bull Ducati team, on a brand new motorcycle, the Desmo450. Justin and Dylan Ferrandis debuted the Italian stallion for the first time in Supercross at Anaheim 1, and they both made the bike look good.

JUSTIN’S OFFSEASON INJURY

This off-season transition from GasGas to Ducati wasn’t silky smooth for Justin. He broke his collarbone while training during his 10th day of riding the new bike. Normally, a collarbone is a quick fix for high-level athletes, but Justin had already injured his left collarbone before, and he had a plate in it. This required surgery to remove the previous plate and install a bigger plate. Because of the previous screw holes in his collarbone, it took a few months for the bone to heal enough to ride again. Since his injury, Justin had put seven rides on the bike, and then he decided to line up at Anaheim 1.

JUSTIN’S ANAHEIM 1 CRASH

Unfortunately, Justin was in the wrong place at the wrong time. On lap one of the 450SX Main Event, as the track bended around turn three and hit a triple, Ken Roczen and Malcolm Stewart touched mid-air at the end of the right-field rhythm lane, as they were getting ready to take off on the triple. Malcolm elected to double-single the triple, and when he was coming up off the landing, Justin was already mid-air, and coming down to land the triple. His bike landed on Malcolm’s left shoulder and arm, and it sent Justin over the bars, straight into the ground. From afar, it looked like Justin didn’t move, but up close he could be seen moving his arms and head slightly.

MALCOLM STEWART POSTED VIA INSTAGRAM SUNDAY AFTERNOON:

Malcolm Stewart: “First and foremost, sending prayers to the Barcia family. I’m gutted by how this situation unfolded and truly hope he’s okay. I did sustain a shoulder injury and will update you all after further evaluation. I’m going to do everything I can to be back out there. Appreciate all the love and support.”
